SMB.CMD - Samba 3.0.xx starter for OS/2 and eCS

1. Introduction:
Most Samba packages for various *nix flavors come with a shell script in order to quickly start or stop the Samba services.

smb.cmd (written in REXX) provides the same for OS/2 and eCS.

2. Installation:
smb.cmd should reside in the same directory as smbd.exe and nmbd.exe.

3. Usage:
The usage of smb.cmd mimics the usage of the *nix shell scripts and is quite straight forward:

smb {start|stop|restart|status}

In addition a plugin feature found in IBM's TCPSTART.CMD is added to smb.cmd

Ft2Gui 1.0.2

This utility switches between IBM TrueType.DLL and FreeType.DLL. In addition FreeType options can be configured.

Serenity Systems released Open Office 2.0.4 GA for eComStation yesterday.

I just noticed that on ecomstation.ru that the ACPI Manager, a GUI/console utility for testing ACPI has been updated a couple weeks ago.

"ACPI (short for "Advanced Configuration and Power Interface") is a standard that defines power and configuration management interfaces between an operating system and Hardware. It is meant to supersede the older APM standard (for power management) and provide a generic interface for recognition and configuration of hardware devices."

FM2 3.05.09 Released

A package that includes FM2 3.05.09 and a warpin installer version of the FM2 Utilities has been released.

Using warpin you can now install both FM2 and the FM2 utilities in one simple process. The Utilities themselves have not been updated. So, if you already have the utilities installed and working with FM2 reinstalling them isn't necessary unless you change the install location of FM2 and they are not included in your PATH.

Cairo version 1.4.6

An OS/2 port of Cairo version 1.4.6 has been released. Cairo is a vector graphics library designed to provide high-quality display and print output. Note that Mozilla is moving towards using Cairo as its rendering engine. The latest version can be found in the Netlabs incoming directory.
